Reviewers opened the same configuration of this machine and found different memory inside. Two had a pair of 16-gigabyte modules running in dual channel; another received a single 32-gigabyte module, which halves the bandwidth the integrated graphics depend on and dropped its synthetic scores to the level of a far cheaper machine. Same product code, same capacity on the box, materially different computer, and the maker's own specification page does not settle it because it contradicts itself. If you are buying this to play anything, that lottery decides what you get, and the only way to find out is to open it, which means peeling off the glued-on rubber feet. Two more things worth knowing before ordering. The wireless card is a MediaTek part that one reviewer reports simply does not work on Linux, leaving you on cable; it is replaceable and swapping it is the usual advice. And the OCuLink port most buyers want uses an adapter that occupies one of the two drive slots and that you fit yourself, so it is an external graphics card or a second drive, never both. What it does well is hold its speed: ten consecutive processor runs varied by three per cent.

A cheap, quiet desktop that holds its pace under repeated load, once you have checked which memory actually arrived inside it.

Not for

Graphics work bought sight unseen, wireless on Linux, and anyone who wants OCuLink and two drives at the same time.
