MINISFORUM UM870 Slim uses AMD Ryzen 7 8745H with Radeon 780M. A compact Radeon-based desktop for a multi-monitor desk or media workflow. The Slim model retains two internal NVMe positions and replaceable RAM; avoid assuming it has every expansion connection of the Plus version.

What owners say
One German magazine and a handful of owners had this Ryzen 7 8745H machine, and the owners supply most of what is useful. It is essentially silent at idle and audible from a couple of metres under load, as plain white noise without whine or rattle, according to an owner running CI jobs under Proxmox; another owner found it not loud overall but audible when gaming. The magazine's verdict is in its headline: strong performance, but not really slim. The faux-silver plastic case looks cheap, and the bright blue power LED needed foil tape in one bedroom. Opening it is fiddly — taped rubber feet, four screws, and clips pried from the "Rear" mark while minding the fan cable. Owner-installed Crucial DDR5-5600 memory and a WD SSD worked first time, and Proxmox has been completely stable. The MediaTek MT7902 wireless card is the catch: a clean Windows install has no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth until Minisforum's driver package is installed, and a store buyer found neither works under Ubuntu. The bundled adapter is 120 W. Owners run clusters of them for Kubernetes, although one paid about $200 more for his third unit in 2026 and blames memory prices.

- A quiet home-lab node for Proxmox or Kubernetes, bought as a barebone and wired to the network.

- Linux users who need built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and anyone who cares about looks or a dark bedroom.
