Beelink SER8 (8745HS)

What owners say

Two reviewers who had this exact chip found a quiet desk machine: about 1,300 rpm and barely audible in normal use, 7 W at an idle desktop, and 48 dB at the case only when Prime95 pushed it to 89 °C. Owners tell a less tidy story, and most of it is firmware. One found his unit idling at 18 to 21 W on Windows 11 and traced it to AMD's GPIO driver; swapping that driver brought it down to 6 W but disabled the power button. Beelink's answer is that 10 to 15 W at idle is normal. Another owner's fans ran flat out because the BIOS read the temperature as 255 °C. In May 2026 an AMD chipset update left 8745HS units freezing at boot until Beelink shipped a fixed BIOS in June, eleven days after the first report on its forum. The all-metal case costs radio range: one reviewer got 300 to 400 Mbps over Wi-Fi and an owner moved Bluetooth to a USB dongle, though a store buyer ten metres from his router saw no problem. Two of the three rear USB-A ports are USB 2.0, and there is no S3 sleep, only Modern Standby.

For whom

A quiet office or home-server box — Proxmox graphics passthrough works — that also plays at 1080p on low settings, for about $130 less than the 8845HS version, which mostly differs by the NPU.

Not for

Anyone who wants it to work without touching drivers or the BIOS, or who needs dependable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth through the metal case.
