MINISFORUM AI X1 (255)
MINISFORUM AI X1 (255) uses AMD Ryzen 7 255 with Radeon 780M. A versatile desk or development PC with USB4 and an external-GPU expansion route. Using the M.2-to-OCuLink adapter reduces space available for internal SSDs, and external graphics require a separate compatible GPU and dock.

- 512 GB
- Ports & displays
- Two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, one USB-A 2.0, two USB4 40Gbps Type-C, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0 and a 3.5 mm headset jack. OCuLink uses an M.2 adapter, so it shares internal storage expansion.

- RAM & storage upgrades
- Two DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM slots, up to 64 GB for the Ryzen 7 255/260 editions. Two M.2 2280 NVMe SSD positions. The manufacturer lists up to 4 TB without clearly specifying per-drive versus combined capacity. OCuLink uses an M.2 adapter and occupies one storage position.

What owners say
Start with the name, because it misleads: the Ryzen 7 255 is a rebadged Zen 4 Hawk Point part with no dedicated NPU, so if you are buying this for local AI you are buying the wrong box. What it does well is sit quietly on a desk. Reviewers measured 31 dB(A) at idle and 38 at full tilt, the processor settles around 81 °C with no sustained-load drop, and idle draw is in the region of 4 to 7 W, which is a quarter of what a home-lab machine of the same brand pulls. The real selling point is the OCuLink port: one test moved the same game from 87 FPS over USB4 to 126 over OCuLink with an external RTX 4070 Super. The catch is that the adapter takes one of the two M.2 slots, so it is an external GPU or a second SSD, not both. Two warnings from owners: the bundled SSD is the weakest part and both reviewers single it out, and performance profiles and the fan curve can only be changed from the UEFI, which means a reboot every time.
- For whom
- A small, quiet desktop for office work, media and 1080p esports, with the option of a cheap external GPU over OCuLink later.
- Not for
- Local AI, despite the name, and anyone who wants fast internal storage and an external GPU at the same time.

Notes
- The manufacturer SSD limit of 4 TB does not clearly establish a per-drive versus combined maximum.
