GMKtec NucBox M6 Ultra

GMKtec NucBox M6 Ultra combines AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS with integrated Radeon 760M for office multitasking, development and media work. Gaming and GPU-accelerated applications depend on their settings and driver support; the graphics specification alone is not a measured performance result. Replaceable SO-DIMM memory gives it a path for later RAM upgrades. Two Ethernet interfaces are useful for a small home lab, with actual throughput depending on storage and network equipment.

What owners say

Four reviewers had this Ryzen 5 7640HS machine, and it fixes most of what was wrong with the plain M6. The front USB4 port is real — an external PCIe 4.0 drive read at about 3,200 MB/s — DPC latency was low and 4K playback had no dropouts, so it works as a streaming client. It is still not quiet under load: 37 to 39 dB(A) in one lab, 41 to 43.5 dB at 30 cm with a slight high-pitched hum in another, and verified store owners who expected silence were disappointed. At idle it is silent or close to it. Heat is well handled — a brief 86 °C, then 80 °C at a steady 45 W with no real performance loss — and the BIOS offers 35, 45 and 50 W modes, 45 W by default. It draws about 10 W at idle and around 70 W under full load. Every review unit came with a PCIe Gen 3 SSD in slots that take Gen 4. A clip-off lid hides a screwed plate carrying a fan, and standard M.2 heatsinks will not fit under the top. Reviewers split on the mostly plastic build. Owners run it under Proxmox with Home Assistant and as a SteamOS couch PC, and one reviewer found it close to Geekom's AX8 Max for $240 less.

For whom
A capable everyday PC, streaming client or home-lab box with a genuine USB4 port, at a low price.
Not for
Quiet rooms under sustained load, heavy AAA gaming and GPU-focused work.
