Nine reviewers had this exact chip, and they agree it is quick for its size while disagreeing about how loud it is. Measured the same way the numbers line up — about 25 dB(A) idle and 47 to 48 dB(A) at 15 cm under load in one lab, 45 dB at a metre in another — but one reviewer found that clearly audible and tiresome in a quiet room, because the fan never fully stops, while another called it minimal after two hours of stress. The fan also jumps on brief background tasks. Under sustained all-core load the chip falls from a 60 W burst to about 35 W, and idle draw is 8 to 11 W. Opening it is the sore point: the plate over the memory and SSD carries the Wi-Fi antenna, whose short wire tends to pop off, and on one unit the SSD had to come out to reconnect it. There is only one M.2 slot for storage, and the 16 GB version ships with a single module, leaving a slot free. The SSD brand varies from unit to unit, and the factory Windows needed updated drivers and, on one unit, some cleaning up. Despite the AI badge there is no NPU. Ubuntu worked out of the box for two reviewers.

For whom

A small, fast office or home PC, and a capable Linux box, for less than the Ryzen 9 A8, which one lab found louder and hungrier.

Not for

Quiet rooms, people who expect to open it often, anyone who needs two internal drives, and real-time audio work — it failed a DPC latency test.
