GEEKOM A5 (7430U)

What owners say

Eight reviewers had the 2025 A5 with the Ryzen 5 7430U, and the word they reach for is quiet: one never found it noisy after hours of use, another says it might as well be passively cooled, and measured figures run from 30 to 37 dBA at full load. The low-power chip stays in the 60s °C under stress, but reviewers disagree on whether it holds its power — one saw no drop over six hours, another saw it fall from 20 W to its 15 W default after a minute. Wall draw is 4 to 10 W at idle and 25 to 30 W under load. It is a tidy desk machine rather than a fast one: a month as one reviewer's daily driver brought occasional slowdowns with many tabs open, DDR4 holds the graphics back, and there is no USB4, Thunderbolt or OCuLink. Storage is flexible but fiddly, with a 2242-only second M.2 slot and a 2.5-inch bay whose ribbon cable one reviewer found easy to break and another found long enough. Reviewers disagree on whether the case is metal or plastic over a metal frame. The BIOS is basic and its advanced menus unlock only with a Windows tool, so change settings before installing Linux; Proxmox, Ubuntu and Fedora ran fine, but the Realtek NIC rules out ESXi. There is one 2.5GbE port and a fast UHS-II SD reader.

For whom

A quiet, frugal office PC or small Proxmox host, especially on sale.

Not for

Graphics work, anyone who needs USB4 or an external GPU, VMware ESXi, and firewall builds that need two network ports.
