ASUS NUC 15 Pro+ (285H)

ASUS NUC 15 Pro+ (285H) pairs Intel Core Ultra 9 285H with Intel Arc Graphics for compact desktop workloads. This profile is a barebone kit: memory, storage and an operating system must be supplied separately. Thunderbolt and dual display outputs support a peripheral-rich workspace. The larger Pro+ enclosure has its own dimensions and adapter specification.

What owners say

Every other machine with this processor makes you choose. The GEEKOM IT15 sips 3.8 W at idle and then suffocates at 33 W under load; the GMKtec EVO-T1 sustains real power and is never quiet. Measured by the same laboratory against those two, this one idles at 3.9 W, holds around 71 W continuously, and is still the quietest of the three under load at 44.4 dB(A) on average. Switched off it draws 0.78 W, six times less than the Beelink GTi15 Ultra. What it pays for that is the peak: 160.6 W, the highest of nineteen machines the same laboratory has measured with this graphics part, although the brief spikes never destabilised the 150-watt supply. It also runs hot, about 100 °C under stress by one reviewer and 106 °C by another, inside the 110 °C the chip allows but with nothing left over, and the top of the case reaches 42 °C. It is sold bare, so you supply the memory and the drive: two slots, up to 96 gigabytes, and both have to be filled or the graphics do not perform as advertised. The main drive slot is PCIe 5.0; the second one takes only a 42-millimetre stick. One screw opens it.

For whom
Someone who will build it themselves and wants sustained power and a low idle in the same box, with three years of warranty behind it.
Not for
A machine that stays quiet under load, anyone who needs a headphone jack or a card reader, and anyone hoping to fit a full-length second drive.
