What owners say

No English-language lab has reviewed this Core Ultra 5 225H kit, so this reads three hands-on accounts from Chinese and Korean owners and creators: the tall version with an expansion board, the slim barebone, and a Korean owner who bought the barebone. They agree it runs hot for its size. Under stress the tall unit settled from 65 W to about 55 W with the processor at 95 °C, and the slim one hit its 105 °C limit before reaching the 64 W cap, yet still held 57 W in quiet mode. On noise they differ: the tall unit's fan was not loud under stress, while the Korean owner found it louder than expected out of the box and judged the cooler small next to Chinese rivals. His fix is worth knowing: the power-limit and fan-curve controls stay greyed out until External Ambient Temperature Tolerance, at the bottom of the Cooling menu, is set to User Defined; capped at 23 W with a custom curve it became almost silent for office work. The base swings open on a hinge and the drives fit without screws, but the second M.2 slot only takes short 2242 drives. The integrated graphics are weak for games.

An efficient always-on home server or office PC, for a buyer willing to tune the BIOS.

Not for

Gaming, and anyone who wants it quiet without adjusting the fan and power settings.
