Four magazines reviewed this Core i7-1360P kit, all in 2023 and all on the Intel-built unit, before ASUS took over production of the same design; this describes that design rather than an ASUS-built example. It is quiet only at rest: the fan switches off completely at idle, when it draws 4.5 to 9 W. Under load it earns the old NUC reputation — 46.6 dB(A) at full load in one lab, "very noticeable" in another, a small "roaring cube" in a third — although a fourth heard only a mild whir. Intel lets the 28 W chip run at 40 W and boost to 64 W; one lab caught it at 91 W, and the system settles near 60 W under sustained load, with the processor reaching 92 °C without throttling. Four screws open the base, the slots are labelled, the SSD has its own cooling, and 64 GB of DDR4 worked in two labs. Windows 11 setup did not recognise the new network chips at first, so keep drivers on a stick. Under VMware ESXi the mixed P- and E-cores can crash the host unless the E-cores are disabled. The integrated graphics are weak, and reviewers disagree on whether the rear HDMI ports are 2.0b or 2.1.

For whom

A compact, well-built office PC or home-lab node with two USB4 ports and room for 64 GB, for buyers who do not mind the fan under load.

Not for

Quiet rooms under sustained load, and graphics work or gaming.
