ASUS ExpertCenter PN64 (i5-12500H)

ASUS ExpertCenter PN64 (i5-12500H) pairs Intel Core i5-12500H with Intel Iris Xe Graphics for compact desktop workloads. This profile is a barebone kit: memory, storage and an operating system must be supplied separately. Its display outputs and replaceable memory suit a desk with several monitors; the optional rear port must be checked before planning peripherals.

Ports & displays
2 × USB-C 10Gbps (rear supports DisplayPort 1.4 and power input), 3 × USB-A 10Gbps, 2 × HDMI 2.1 (4K/60Hz), audio jack and an optional configurable video/serial/LAN port.
Ethernet, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
1 × 2.5GbE RJ45, with a second Ethernet connection available as a configurable-port option. ASUS lists Wi-Fi 6/6E modules with Bluetooth 5.2, 5.3 or 5.4 depending on the module. Confirm the exact kit and software support; neither a second LAN port nor a specific wireless module is assumed installed.
RAM & storage upgrades
2 × DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM, up to 32 GB (2 × 16 GB) for this CPU generation; 1 × M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe slot (ASUS-listed SSDs up to 2 TB) and a 7 mm 2.5-inch SATA bay. RAM and storage are not included. Dual-channel memory is required for the advertised Iris Xe graphics configuration.
Power supply & power limits
The ASUS product guide assigns a 120 W external adapter to PN64 i5/i7 models; the family-wide 90 W option belongs to i3 models. Confirm the adapter voltage and connector against the exact kit before replacement. Rated output is not measured wall power.

What owners say

Four labs had the PN64 with the Core i5-12500H, and the most thorough explains its behaviour: ASUS lets the chip draw 80 W for up to 56 seconds, it spikes to about 95 °C, and then it throttles to roughly what a fixed 35 W limit gives. Another lab saw a gentler 81 °C peak settling near 70 °C. Setting a steady 45 W limit by hand kept it about 500 MHz faster once the stock setting would have throttled, and one reviewer's main complaint is that ASUS caps the chip below what it can do. Noise depends on who listened: about 50 dB in Normal mode under Cinebench and almost inaudible in Quiet mode for one lab, little difference between the two for another, and no software could read the fan speed. The BIOS can disable cores and enable HDMI-CEC for TV remotes. There is only one USB port at the back and no Thunderbolt, but the rear USB-C accepts power, so a suitable monitor can run it over one cable. Four screws in the feet open it, and a thin film joins lid and base and tears if pulled. The 2.5-inch bay takes only 7 mm drives, and memory is capped at 2 × 16 GB for 12th-generation units. Reviewers disagree on whether the rear HDMI ports are 2.0 or 2.1.

For whom
A sturdy business or home-office mini PC with HDMI-CEC, Intel 2.5GbE and a 2.5-inch bay, for someone willing to set a power limit.
Not for
Anyone who needs Thunderbolt, several rear USB ports or more than 32 GB of memory.

Notes

  • Measured wall power, acoustic measurements and configuration-matched benchmark results remain unverified.
  • Family LAN summary says dual LAN, while the I/O list shows one standard port and a second configurable option. Rear and wireless modules remain SKU-dependent. PN64-E1 is a separate model; its second M.2 slot is not included here.
