Every number you will read about this machine was measured on a more expensive one. Review units came with 48 or 64 GB of memory and 1 or 2 TB drives; the 12-core, 24 GB, 512 GB configuration sold here is the one nobody benchmarked. What does carry over is how the chassis behaves, and the reports split cleanly by what you load. Owners running audio sessions or long compiles describe the fan sitting at 1,000 rpm and never becoming audible, one of them through a 62-track project with about 125 plugins. The two publications that heard it clearly had both switched on High Power Mode, which exists only on the Pro, and which pushed the fan from around 3,000 to 4,500 rpm while, against intuition, running the system cooler. Graphics work is what people actually hear; one owner returned a Pro and kept a base M4 instead. On speed the picture is consistent: this 12-core chip lands near an M1 Ultra on multi-core work and beats an M2 Ultra Mac Studio on the processor, while even an M1 Max Studio stays ahead of it on graphics compute. Memory costs $400 to go from 24 to 48 GB.

Graphics-heavy work, where a Mac Studio is both faster and calmer, and anyone who wants to check a published benchmark against this exact configuration, because none exists.
