What owners say

Four reviewers, one of whom bought his own, and several owners had this Ryzen 5 7640HS box. Minisforum runs the chip at 65 W with no BIOS option to trade speed for quiet, so under Cinebench it holds about 59 W at 89 to 92 °C and the fan steps between a quiet stage and a high-pitched, laptop-like whoosh; at rest and in games it stays close to the room, 32 to 33 dB at 50 cm in one lab, and owners use it in a bedroom and to record with a condenser microphone. The factory 16 GB of DDR5-4800 arrives either as one stick or as two, and a single stick cripples the Radeon 760M — graphics scored barely 60% of dual-channel in one test — so anyone who games should add a matching module. With two sticks, VALORANT runs above 110 FPS at 1080p maximum settings, while newer games stay under 60 even on low. The stock SSD is a 2230 drive on a carrier, TLC in reviewed units but QLC in one later unit. There is no SATA option, no SD slot and only one USB-C port. Opening it means stick-on feet and a fan cable on the bottom panel. Under Fedora it takes about a minute to wake from sleep, and Proxmox graphics passthrough needs a self-extracted vBIOS.

For whom
Students, office work and light 1080p gaming in a quiet box that mounts behind a monitor, with a second memory stick if it ships with one.
Not for
A machine that must stay quiet under long heavy loads, anyone who needs a dedicated GPU, and those who want SATA or an SD slot.
