MINISFORUM AI X1 Pro (HX 470)

MINISFORUM AI X1 Pro (HX 470) uses AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 with Radeon 890M. A compact workstation with separate storage and external-GPU expansion. Its third NVMe slot has fewer PCIe lanes than the first two, which matters when planning scratch disks or high-transfer workloads.

What owners say

Three laboratories opened this machine separately and all three found the same thing: the press unit arrived with a single memory module, running in single channel. All three made it the centre of their verdict, and one put the word bottleneck in its headline. What that costs is measured rather than argued, because one of them fitted a second module to the same machine and ran everything again. Cyberpunk at 1080p Low went from 27 to 51 frames per second and F1 24 from 48 to 99; the graphics numbers roughly double. Before the upgrade a laptop from the previous generation beat it outright on processor work. Two faults carry over from the model this replaces and only one improved. Interrupt latency fell from 12,282 microseconds to 3,305, a fourfold gain that still leaves it last in its own reviewer's comparison table. The card reader did not improve at all: it copies at 25.8 MB/s where the class average is near 125, which is USB 2 speed on a machine costing more than a thousand. What it does very well is stay cool and quiet, at 28.4 dB(A) idle, with a case that never reaches 40 °C, a chip that stops at 67.5 and the power supply built in rather than sitting on your floor.

For whom
An office and creative desktop, with an external graphics card over OCuLink later, once you have bought the second memory module.
Not for
Buying at 32 GB and leaving it there, because the single module halves the graphics performance, and anything that depends on the card reader.
